Effective implementation of the law for the welfare of orphans is necessary: ​​Naidu


New Delhi (LokSatya). Welcoming the recent amendment to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has stressed the need for its effective implementation at the grassroots level.

Naidu, during his meeting with Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday, said that this is a better law to ensure that the benefit of the welfare schemes of orphans can be ensured. He said that this law should be implemented effectively so that orphan children can be saved from exploitation. Irani called on Naidu at the Vice-President's residence.


The Vice President said that he has received several letters on issues related to orphans. The Union Minister apprised the Vice President about the salient features of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children (Amendment) Bill, 2021. It was recently passed by the Rajya Sabha. Irani also informed the Vice President that the recent amendments to the District Magistrates and Additional Empowers district magistrates to expedite the process of adoption and ensure greater protection to orphans.He also mentioned various steps, including the Centre's rehabilitation measures, in partnership with states for the welfare of orphans.

Naidu said that it is the collective responsibility of the society and the government to ensure the safety and welfare of orphan children. Recently, a group of orphans visited him at the Vice-President's residence.
