Doval made Delhi plan on Afghanistan, PM Modi also met NSAs of 7 countries


National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held a meeting with the NSAs of seven countries on Wednesday regarding the Afghan crisis. This meeting took place in Delhi. On the sidelines of the meeting, the NSAs of seven countries also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Five of the seven countries are Central Asian countries and two of them are Russia and one Iran. This meeting was kept in view of the new crisis arising after the Taliban occupation of Afghanistan.

Ajit Doval, who chaired the meeting, said the recent developments in Afghanistan have important implications not only for the people of that country but also for its neighbors and the region. He said that it is time for closer consultation, greater cooperation and coordination among regional countries on the Afghan situation. The seven countries whose NSA has participated in this meeting include Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Discussion on the dangers after the Taliban occupation of Afghanistan

India is hosting the meeting with an aim to strengthen a common vision for practical cooperation in countering the growing threats of terrorism, radicalization and drug trafficking after the Taliban capture Kabul. Initiating the meeting, Doval said, “We are meeting today to discuss matters related to Afghanistan. All of us are keeping a close watch on the developments in that country.

What did NSA Doval say before the start of the meeting?

“These have important implications not only for the people of Afghanistan, but also for its neighbors and the region,” he said. Before the start of the meeting, Doval expressed hope that this discussion with the seven countries would be fruitful. “It is time for close discussions between us,” he said. I am confident that our discussions will contribute to helping the Afghan people and enhancing our collective security.

China and Pakistan made distance from the meeting

Let us tell you that Pakistan and China were also going to attend this meeting, but both the countries avoided the meeting. China refused to attend the meeting just two days ago. Such a meeting has already taken place. The first meeting was held in September 2018. Which was hosted by Iran. China had participated in this meeting. After this, the second meeting was held in December 2019. Pakistan did not participate in both these meetings. Like before, this time also Pakistan did what it has been doing before.
