The central government has entrusted the security of the Hyderabad campus of Bharat Biotech, one of the country’s leading Kovid-19 vaccine manufacturers, to CISF commandos. Official sources gave this information on Tuesday. The company’s registered office and plant at Genome Valley in Shamirpet area of Hyderabad’s Telangana capital would be guarded by a team of 64 armed personnel of paramilitary CISF, he said.
Sources said that the Union Home Ministry had recently approved a proposal to deploy the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to guard the complex. The force then conducted a survey. It is an important organization when it comes to ensuring the medical and health security of the country and it is clearly under terrorist threat from various hostile elements, an official said.
He said, therefore, the CISF has been entrusted with the task of guarding the Hyderabad unit of Bharat Biotech. CISF Deputy Inspector General and Chief Spokesperson Anil Pandey told PTI that the force would be deployed for security there on June 14. Bharat Biotech manufactures anti-Covid-19 vaccine vaccines.
After the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the CISF was allowed to provide security to private establishments of public importance. The CISF guards around 10 such units across the country, including Infosys’ campuses in Pune and Mysore, Reliance IT Park in Navi Mumbai and yoga guru Ramdev’s Patanjali campus in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
