A woman shopkeeper was allegedly murdered by a man in an inebriated condition in south-west Delhi’s Dabri area. The police have started investigating the matter by sending the body for postmortem. The police have arrested the accused Dileep (45).
According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday evening, when the woman refused to give a cigarette to the accused due to non-payment of dues, on which he slit the woman’s neck with a sharp weapon.
The 30-year-old woman, who was critically injured, was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead, police said. The woman’s name was Vibha and she along with her husband used to run a grocery shop in the area. After the attack, the woman was taken to the hospital by her husband where she was declared brought dead, police said.
A video of the incident has reportedly surfaced. In this, accused Dileep (45) is seen talking to the victim with a toolkit in his hand. Dilip then removes the sharp weapon from the toolkit and slits the woman’s throat. It is seen in the video that the accused puts the weapon back in his toolkit and leaves from there.
DCP (Dwarka) Shankar Chaudhary said that at around 10.20 pm on Sunday night, information was received that a woman has been attacked with a knife on Som Bazar road of Dabri. After the incident the accused tried to run away, but people chased him. Meanwhile, a PCR van reached the spot and caught Dileep in an inebriated state.
The angry mob pelted stones at the police and demanded that the accused be handed over to them. However, Dilip was saved from the mob and taken to the police station and arrested. Police said the weapon used in the murder has also been confiscated.
He said that during interrogation, Dilip, a plumber by profession, revealed that he used to buy cigarettes and groceries from Vibha and had owed some money from the previous purchase. On Sunday evening, the woman asked Dileep to pay the dues, due to which there was a fight. Police said that during the argument he slit the throat of Vibha.
A separate case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has also been registered against those who pelted stones at the police and five people, including a woman, were arrested on the basis of CCTV footage, he said.
Delhi: Illegal hookah bar busted, 8 people detained
Delhi Police has busted an illegal hookah bar in Vijay Vihar area of the capital and arrested eight people, including its two owners. Giving information about this on Monday, the police said that the owners of the hookah bar have been identified as Hardeep Singh Thakur (24) and Gautam Juneja (20). Both are residents of Vijay Vihar. The others arrested have been identified as Kashish Arora (28), Naveen Kumar (26), Rupesh (26), Rishabh Gandhi (26), Vaibhav Jaitak (23) and Sanjay (25).
