New Delhi (LokSatya). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today dedicated two Centers of Excellence to the nation, set up to achieve excellence in road safety and promote development in the field of roads, bridges, airfields and tunnels.
The Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar, Director General of the Organization Lt Gen Rajeev Choudhary and other dignitaries were present at the function held on Friday at the office of the Border Roads Organisation. The Raksha Mantri appreciated the efforts and vision of the Directorate General of the Organization in setting up the Center of Excellence and said that these Centers would work towards better security of the country and would provide due impetus to the Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Self-reliant India’.
The organization has created these two Centers of Excellence through its own resources. Through the in-depth institutional knowledge and experience gained in the area of road safety and awareness, both the Centers of Excellence will explore, focus and advance multidisciplinary research.
The organization believes that as the nation progresses and the road network is expanding rapidly, road accidents have also become a matter of concern. Right now no organization or organization in the country focuses on road safety and awareness alone. With this objective, BRO has established a Nodal Center of Excellence for Safe Road Networks which will create awareness by sharing the analysis of road accidents with others and give important suggestions for the safety of precious human lives. Established a Center of Excellence for Roads, Bridges, Airfields and Tunnels to institutionalize the knowledge gained over the years in the development of about 60,000 km of roads, 56000 m of bridges, 19 airstrips and four tunnels in the eastern and north-western regions of the country Has been.
BRO has inherent departmental expertise and is a leader in innovations and introduction of new technologies and tools and will now be shared with other government organizations and institutions. During the inauguration, Defense Secretary underlined the importance of these establishments and said that these Centers of Excellence will go a long way in laying the foundation for a new era of technological advancement.
During the ceremony, Raksha Mantri dedicated to the nation by inaugurating four digital softwares at the service of BRO Karmayogis which would revolutionize the work efficiency, human resource management, recruitment management and their enrollment and job management system of the organization and further in the country. will enhance infrastructural development.
The first HRMS software, envisioned by the then Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, was inaugurated by the current Chief of the Army Staff, General MM Naravane. BRO has also developed similar software which will significantly reduce the paper work and thus it will be a big step towards reducing the carbon foot print. Speaking on the occasion, Raksha Mantri lauded the leadership and vision of DG Border Roads to usher in a dynamic transformation in the organisation, which would give due impetus and direction to strategic projects. He also praised the BRO’s efforts to increase connectivity along the borders during the toughest pandemic.
The Director General of the organization informed that the Border Roads Organization is committed to serve the nation and will bring all necessary changes to increase the efficiency of the organization more rapidly. BRO is scaling new heights with the inspiring philosophy of “We will either find our way or make one.”
