More recently, some such reports were revealed in which it was said that India’s vaccine registration portal ‘CoWIN’ has been hacked by hackers. Now the clarification has also come from the central government on such reports. On Thursday, the government rubbished reports that ‘CoWIN’ has been hacked and that the data of 150 million Indians is at risk.

The Union Health Ministry has said that in some such unknown media reports, it is being said that the ‘CoWIN’ platform has been hacked. Prima facie such reports appear to be fake. All vaccination data is completely secure on the portal. However, the ministry and the Empowered Group on Vaccine Administration (EGVAC) are getting the matter investigated by the Computer Emergency Response Team.

EGVAC President Dr RS Sharma said that after seeing the news related to the hacking of ‘CoWIN’ on social media, our attention has come to it. In this case we would like to assure that all the data on ‘CoWIN’ is present in a secure digital environment. No data of any kind is shared with anyone outside this environment.

Let us tell you that a hacker group called Dark Leak Market had claimed some time ago through a tweet that they have a database of around 150 million Indians who have registered themselves on the Kovin portal and they are reselling it for $800. Because they haven’t basically leaked the data. However, it is also being said in some reports that this hacker group claiming to leak the data is also fake.
