Couple arrested from Delhi smuggled heroin from Afghanistan? ED started investigation


Investigation has intensified regarding 3000 kg heroin recovered from Gujarat port. The Enforcement Directorate has started a money laundering probe in connection with the seizure of around 3,000 kg heroin kept in two containers from the Mundra port in Gujarat. Significantly, the value of the seized narcotics has been estimated at Rs 21,000 crore in the international market. It is being told that this is the biggest seizure of heroin in India so far. This is the first such case at the international level as well. At the same time, a couple has been arrested from Delhi in this case.

ED also sought copy of complaint from DRI

Officials said that the ED probe agency is studying the case of recent record seizure. Simultaneously, the process under PMLA is moving forward. The agency has also sought a copy of the complaint lodged by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) regarding the seizure of narcotics. The matter pertains to the DRI, a law enforcement agency under the Union Finance Ministry. On September 15, the agency seized a total of 2,988.21 kg of heroin, which was produced in Afghanistan, from the Mundra port in Gujarat’s Kutch district.


Chennai resident couple arrested

At the same time, according to India Today, the DRI has arrested a couple from Chennai in this case from Delhi. It is alleged that the same couple had smuggled this heroin from Afghanistan to India. They were arrested when the DRI conducted raids in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Mandvi in ​​Gujarat, including Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Chennai.
