According to the Ministry of Health, the central government is committed to expand the scope of Kovid-19 vaccination across the country and accelerate the pace of vaccination. The new phase of universal availability of COVID-19 vaccines has been started from June 21, 2021. The vaccination campaign was increased through the availability of more and more vaccines.
Under this, states and union territories were provided with prior information about the availability of the vaccine, so that they could better plan the vaccine and streamline the supply chain of the vaccine. In the new phase of universal availability of vaccines, the central government will procure 75 per cent of the vaccines from vaccine manufacturers and provide them free of cost to the states and union territories.
So far, more than 30.54 crore (30,54,32,450) doses of the vaccine have been provided to the states and union territories under the free and direct procurement arrangement by the central government. According to the data available till 8.00 am on Friday morning, a total of 29,04,04,264 doses have been consumed, including the doses which are useless.
At present, more than 1.50 crore (1,50,28,186) doses of Kovid-19 vaccine are left with the states and union territories and are not used, which are to be administered. In addition, more than 47,00,000 doses of the vaccine are ready and will be delivered to the states and union territories within the next three days.
