Uttar Pradesh police have filed a criminal case against Amazon Prime against the makers of the Tandob web series. Yogi’s media adviser also warned of arrest in the case.
There has been controversy over Amazon Prime’s new web series ‘Tandob’. Uttar Pradesh police have filed criminal cases against the producers of the series and the streaming platform. The series has been accused of insulting Hindu deities. A senior official of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned of arrest in the case.
Let me tell you that the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had sought a response from Amazon Prime on the matter following allegations by Maharashtra BJP leader Ram Kadam, after which the case was registered. The series’ director, producer and writer of big stars like Saif Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia, the head of Amazon Prime’s Indian Original Content, have been accused of insulting religious enmity and places of worship in the country through the series.
A sub-inspector posted at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow has lodged the complaint.
Shalvamani Tripathi, media adviser to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, shared a copy of the case on Twitter after the case was registered and wrote, Preparing for the arrest !! ‘
