After increasing the political turmoil by resigning from the post of Punjab Congress Chief, preparations have been made to give a blow to Navjot Singh Sidhu from the Congress high command. It is believed that the party high command has made up its mind to bid farewell to Navjot Singh Sidhu from the post of Punjab Congress and the name of Ravneet Singh Bittu as the new president is also being discussed.
According to the news, the Congress high command has called Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi to Delhi for a discussion on the name of the new state president. Let us inform that on Tuesday, CM Channi has also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. It is believed that Channi will meet Rahul Gandhi on this tour.
Last week, Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from the post of Punjab Congress chief alleging neglect. The party has been persuading Sidhu to hand over the command of the state again for the past several days, but according to reports, now Congress President Sonia Gandhi can accept his resignation.
It is also being told that apart from Ravneet Singh Bittu, the high command is also considering the names of Manish Tewari and Pratap Singh Bajwa as the chiefs of Punjab Congress unit. Sidhu had tendered his resignation, objecting to some of the appointments made in the government of Charanjit Singh Channi. Sidhu had objections to the appointment of Advocate General and DGP along with the cabinet.
In a letter to Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu had said that a compromise leads to the decline of human existence. I cannot compromise with the welfare and future of Punjab. I will continue to grow in Congress.
After the resignation, Navjot Singh Sidhu had released the video saying that he would keep fighting for the truth till his last breath. However, after this Sidhu had said in another tweet that he will stand with Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi whether the post remains or not.
The Congress high command had made Sidhu the Punjab Congress chief in July to end the ongoing tussle between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Captain Amarinder Singh.
