CEO of SII thanked PM Modi for getting 2 months advance for making vaccine

The Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO has praised the Modi government’s efforts to accelerate the pace of production of the Corona vaccine. SII CEO Adar Poonawala on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He wrote in a tweet that I thank PM Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on behalf of the vaccine industry for ‘decisive policy change’ and ‘rapid financial support’ for the production of the Kovid vaccine in India.

This tweet by Poonawala came after the Finance Ministry announced that the Center has approved 100% advance for two months for vaccine production to Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech. The central government has paid a total amount of Rs. 4 thousand 500 crore to the two companies to prepare the vaccine.

Let us know that the Pune-based Serum Institute is working on the production of the vaccine Covishield developed by Oxford and AstraZeneca.

The Center has given Rs 3,000 crore for the serum institute producing covicild and 1500 crore for Bharat Biotech producing covaxin. At the same time last week, the Center also approved a grant of 65 crore for the Bangalore facility of Bharat Biotech. For some time, there have been reports that claim that Serum and Bharat Biotech are facing shortage of money for everything including raw material procurement, payment of staff, and making and distributing vaccines.

Explain that the government has given this fund for the vaccine at a time when the corona vaccine has been announced to be given to all people above 18 years of age from May 1. Till now, under the first phase, front line workers and those above 60 years of age were allowed to be vaccinated. After that in the second phase, the vaccine is being given to people 45 years and above.
