Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking the central government to increase the amount of incentives given to optimists. He said that it is absolutely necessary to increase their attitude by playing an important role in providing health services at the community level, so that their morale is higher and they perform health services with greater efficiency and quality. In a letter to the Prime Minister on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that in 2005 the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India under the National Rural Health Mission selected the Anganwadi Centers for various health activities in urban and rural areas to make every person accessible.

Gehlot said the state government is responsive to the plight of these health workers and stands by them in solving their problems. To provide financial assistance to these workers, the state government is also giving an additional honorarium of Rs. He wrote to the Prime Minister that in the last 15 years since the establishment of the mission, Ashagra has played an important role in the implementation of healthcare and action in rural areas and in the global epidemic of COVID-19 in 2020. Asha Sahyogini also went from house to house doing important work like survey.

The Chief Minister said that apart from participating in special programs, there has been no increase in the amount of incentives given by the Government of India to the optimists for various health related activities from 2013-14. An Asha worker is paid an average of Rs 3,000 per month under this, which can be more or less depending on the performance. The Chief Minister said that currently 52,247 candidates are working in the state against the sanctioned 55,816 posts. He urged the Prime Minister to increase the level of encouragement of the central government keeping in view the important role of optimists in accessing healthcare at the community level.
