CBI’s big action against child pornography, raids at 76 places in the country, team attacked in Odisha


The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday launched searches at 76 locations belonging to 83 people in 14 states who were allegedly involved in dissemination of child sexual abuse material on the Internet. Officials said the central agency had registered 23 separate cases on November 14 against 83 people who were allegedly involved in online child sexual abuse and harassment.

CBI spokesperson RC Joshi said that searches are being conducted in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. CBI team attacked during raid in Odisha


Four members of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team, who came to raid the house of Mithun Naik, accused of posting material related to child sexual abuse on social media in Odisha’s Dhenkanal, were attacked by locals.

Sources said that the CBI team reached Dhenkanal’s Jubilee Colony in Odisha in search of accused Mithun Naik. The family members of the accused tried to stop them and then attacked. Villagers said that the CBI team came here without the knowledge of the local police and did not even reveal its identity. On getting the information, the police immediately reached the spot and rescued the CBI team from the local people. The police have also taken some villagers into custody.

On Tuesday, the CBI carried out a major crackdown in online child sexual abuse cases, in which raids were conducted at 76 locations in 14 states. Sources said the CBI team also conducted raids at some places in Bhadrak and Jajpur districts of Odisha.
