The BSF said in a statement that its troops received information at around 5.30 pm on Wednesday that bodies of two Bangladeshi nationals were lying near BP No. 1331/M near the International Border. The deceased have been identified as Askar Ali, a resident of Lohajuri (about two km from the international border) under Kanighat area of ​​Sylhet district of Bangladesh, and Arif Hussain, a resident of Mikirpara (about 600 meters from the international border).


The BSF statement said that this area is deserted and no Indian national visits there. On receiving the information, his party was sent from BOP Donna to ascertain the facts. Border Guard Bangladesh has also been informed about this incident and Indian troops are awaiting their response.

However, the BSF clarified that it appears that a section of the media in Bangladesh has misinterpreted the case and is claiming that 2 Bangladeshi men were shot dead by the BSF at the Sylhet border.
