BJP’s tricolor yatra in Haryana a devious ploy to instigate and defame farmers: SKM

The United Kisan Morcha (SKM), which is spearheading the protests against the Centre’s three new agricultural laws, has appealed to the farmers of Haryana not to oppose the Tiranga Yatra being launched by the state unit of the BJP. The SKM claimed that this was a “devious ploy” to instigate and defame the farmers.

The SKM, a joint forum of about 40 farmer organizations, said in a statement on Sunday that the opposition to other programs and the BJP-JJP would continue. It said that the Tiranga Yatra proposed by the Haryana unit of BJP is mainly to instigate and defame the farmers. The United Kisan Morcha calls upon the farmers to see this as a devious trick of the BJP and not allow their dirty tricks to succeed under the guise of their national flag.

It is noteworthy that the Haryana unit of BJP started a two-week tricolor yatra from Bhiwani on Sunday ahead of the 75th Independence Day. In this, the party’s state president O.P. Dhankhar joined in and claimed that thousands of farmers participated in the programme.

The United Kisan Morcha said that the ‘Kisan Sansad’ will continue at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Monday as well. The Kisan Sansad will continue in a disciplined and committed manner despite water logging at Jantar Mantar, the statement said. Parallel Kisan Sansad in Chhattisgarh will be organized by the state unit to show solidarity.

It is worth mentioning that the protesting farmers under the banner of United Kisan Morcha have been camping on the borders of Delhi and Haryana since November 26 last year against the three new agricultural laws of the Centre. They are demanding repeal of these three laws and a new law to guarantee the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of the crop. Several rounds of talks between the farmers and the government over the impasse over these controversial laws were in vain. The farmers have already declared a one-to-one fight with the government on this issue. The farmers have appealed to the government to accept their demands at the earliest. At the same time, it has been made clear by the government that the law will not be withdrawn.
