BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay gets bail in anti-Muslim sloganeering case

BJP leader and Supreme Court lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay, arrested in connection with anti-Muslim slogans at Jantar Mantar, has got bail. A Delhi court granted him bail on Wednesday in this case. 6 people including Ashwini Upadhyay were arrested by Delhi Police on Tuesday itself. Apart from Upadhyay, people named Deepak Singh, Vinod Sharma, Vineet Bajpai, Preet Singh and Deepak Kumar were arrested in this case. A case was registered against all these people for raising religious hysteria and violating Corona rules.

The incident of provocative speech in a program held on the evening of August 8 at Jantar Mantar had created a sensation across the country. Questions were also raised on the Delhi Police regarding such an incident near the Parliament. At the same time, Ashwini Upadhyay, who is said to be the organizer of this event, said that he had left only in the afternoon and he has nothing to do with such sloganeering. Upadhyay was sent to judicial custody for two days by the court, after which the Supreme Court lawyer applied for bail.

In fact, Upadhyay had organized a program on Sunday under the banner of Bharat Jodo Movement. In this program, he demanded the removal of the colonial era laws and the implementation of a uniform civil code in the country. But in the same event, there was a dispute due to sloganeering in the evening. During the hearing on Upadhyay’s bail application, Delhi Police opposed the relief given to him. Delhi Police said that he was the keynote speaker and his role is currently being probed.
