Even before the assembly elections to be held in Manipur next year, the BJP is seeing a steady lead. Earlier two Congress MLAs had joined BJP. Now another MLA from Manipur has joined BJP. This time MLA Karam Shyam has announced to contest the next assembly elections on a BJP ticket.
MLA Karam Shyam, representing the Langthabal assembly constituency in Manipur’s West district, announced his joining the BJP while talking to reporters at his residence in Chajing Mairenkhong.
In the year 2017, Lok Janshakti Party MLA and former cabinet minister Karam Shyam praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a conversation with reporters. Appreciating many decisions of Prime Minister Modi, he said that it is a matter of pride for me to join BJP. “Since I don’t have any party or flag, I have decided to join BJP and I will take a big responsibility to make BJP the most powerful party of the future,” he said.
Earlier on Monday, two Congress MLAs RK Imo Singh and Yumthong Haokip had joined the BJP in Manipur. Both joined the BJP in the presence of big leaders of the party in Delhi.
Both Imo and Haokip were elected on Congress tickets in the 2017 assembly elections. Imo was expelled from the Congress in August last year for anti-party activities while Yumthong was with the Congress before joining the BJP on Monday.
