Before the Goa elections, Kejriwal made a flurry of promises, promising unemployment allowance and 80% quota in jobs for the local people

Ahead of Goa’s assembly elections to be held early next year, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday made several populist promises related to employment in Goa. Kejriwal said that if the Aam Aadmi Party comes to power, then arrangements will be made to provide employment to one youth in every house of Goa. Till the unemployed youth do not get jobs, they will be given unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month. Along with this, it has promised to provide 80 percent reservation in private sector jobs for the local people.

Kejriwal said that the youth told me that if anyone wants a government job here, then he should get acquainted with any minister or MLA. It is not possible to get a government job in Goa without a bribe/recommendation. We will end this system. All the youth of Goa will have right to government jobs here. We will make arrangements to give job to one job-worthy youth in every household of Goa.

Additionally, Arvind Kejriwal promised to bring a law, according to which 80 percent of the jobs in the private sector would be reserved for the youth of Goa. Government jobs are already reserved for the local people.

Delhi CM Kejriwal said that the people of Goa are afraid that after the mining auction, people from outside will get jobs here. We will ensure that 80 per cent jobs in mining are reserved for the people of Goa.

As the tourism and mining industries have suffered a lot due to the corona pandemic and the closure of mines, Arvind Kejriwal has also promised a monthly allowance of Rs 5,000 for the families engaged in these businesses, till their condition improves. Doesn’t happen

Kejriwal said that we will create a skill development university in Goa, where after 12th, children will be able to learn their favorite skills so that they can become employable.

Kejriwal met taxi drivers yesterday

Kejriwal on Monday met taxi drivers in Goa and expressed concern over their being affected due to the lockdown and slowdown in the tourism sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kejriwal, who arrived here on Monday on a two-day visit to Goa, was accorded a warm welcome by AAP leaders at the airport. He then met the taxi drivers present there and shared his concerns. The taxi drivers told Kejriwal that they were worried that they would not be able to come out of their financial difficulties due to the lockdown.

Kejriwal also met several leaders including a delegation of Bhandari society. Bhandari Samaj leaders also shared their concerns. He said that a large number of people have lost their jobs due to the economic slowdown. After this he went to the Rudreshwar temple, offered prayers and aarti there and interacted with the local residents there.

Kejriwal said that unemployment is at its peak in Goa. The youth are not getting employment here and the unemployment rate is at the highest level in the state. He alleged that only those with money and access were getting government jobs.

Significantly, Goa assembly elections are to be held in 2022. AAP has announced to contest from here. This is considered to be a big step of the Aam Aadmi Party before the Goa Assembly elections. To establish roots in Goa, ‘AAP’, which entered the assembly elections for the first time in 2017, got 57,420 i.e. 6.27 percent votes, could not get even a single seat. Goa has 40 assembly seats.
