Giving a big relief to the people of the state ahead of the assembly elections, the Punjab government has decided to waive off the outstanding water bill. This is a big announcement of the state government in view of the assembly elections to be held next year. Apart from this, Channi cabinet has also decided to make appointments for Group-D posts on regular basis which include Peon, Driver etc.

Today, the Charanjit Singh Channi government has decided to waive off their outstanding water bills, giving a big relief to the people living in urban and rural areas. This is a big relief for the people of the state in view of the assembly elections starting next year. This decision will put an additional burden of about Rs 1800 crore on the state government. Also, the cabinet has decided to fix water charges at Rs 50 per month.

In a press conference after presiding over the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said, “We are waiving water outstanding of all cities of Rs 700 crore.” Channi said that the cabinet has decided that the state government will supply water. Tubewell electricity bill will be paid. “In villages, pending water bills of panchayats will also be waived off,” he said, adding that these would be around Rs 1,168 crore. The Cabinet has also decided to make appointments on regular basis for Group-D posts, which include Peons, Drivers etc.
