Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has been booked by the Mizoram Police, has said that he will join the investigation. However, he asked why a neutral investigative agency was not probing it.
In a tweet on Saturday, the Assam CM wrote, “Very happy to be involved in any investigation. But why is the matter not being assigned to a neutral agency, especially when the place of incident is within the constitutional domain of Assam? I have already told Zoramthanga ji.”
will be very happy to join in any investigation. But why the case is not being handed over to a neutral agency, especially when the place of occurrence is well within the constitutional territory of Assam? Have already conveyed this to @ZoramthangaCM ji https://t.co/v4eDi84isL

Let us tell you that Himanta Biswa Sarma was booked on Friday on charges of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy in connection with the recent clashes on the inter-state border on July 26. The Mizoram Police has registered criminal cases against the Assam Chief Minister, four senior state police officers and two other officials in connection with the violence on the outskirts of Wairengte town in Kolasib district.
Mizoram’s Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) John N says that a case has been registered against these people under sections including attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy. He said an FIR was registered by the state police at Vairengte police station late on Monday night following a violent clash between Mizoram and Assam police forces near Seema Nagar. Cases have also been registered against 200 unidentified personnel of Assam Police, he said.
