Ajit Pawar has termed the reports of Income Tax Department temporarily attaching properties worth more than one thousand crores belonging to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar as baseless. A clarification has been presented by Deputy CM Pawar. It has been said that no property related to him has been attached by the Income Tax Department nor has he received any notice.

In fact, according to media sources, after the arrest of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, now the Income Tax Department is going to tighten the noose on Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The Income Tax Department has issued a temporary notice to confiscate several registered properties of Ajit Pawar. This includes 27 properties in Maharashtra, a resort worth 250 crores in Goa and a sugar mill worth 600 crores. It also includes some properties in Delhi. These properties are worth more than 1400 crores.

However, putting an end to these speculations, a clarification has been presented by Nationalist Congress Party leader and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. His lawyer Prashant Patil, in a clarification, said that no property belonging to Ajit Pawar has been attached by the Income Tax Department and he has not received any notice. He said the media reports of attachment of properties belonging to the Pawar family are baseless and misleading. Pawar has also denied the claims made.

Issuing the statement, Prashant Patil said, “None of his assets were attached by the IT department nor have he received any notice in this regard. The IT department has sought clarifications regarding certain issues and appropriate response will be given on the same. Appropriate action will also be taken through administrative and legal means. The media reports in this regard are baseless and misleading. The media should check the facts before reporting and should not fall prey to any kind of propaganda.”
