The late Dalit leader Ram Vilas Paswan, who was a Union Minister, is in a lot of discussion. What happened that all the parties are calling him their own? The demand for giving him Bharat Ratna has also arisen. Nowadays again Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) is in discussion in the political corridor of Bihar and in front is the by-election to be held in two seats of Bihar Assembly, Tarapur and Kusheshwar. Obviously, it is a matter of Dalit votes, so it is imperative for the parties to be active and alert. After the death of LJP founder and former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, his son Chirag Paswan targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the Bihar assembly elections and despite being a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), implementing the strategy of Ekla Chalo. LJP was in discussion due to the defeat of Janata Dal United in many seats. After this the party came into the limelight when the party broke down in the race to declare Ram Vilas Paswan’s political legacy as the real heir. His brother Pashupati Paras became the head of one faction and his son Chirag Paswan became the head of the other faction. There was a competition between the two to prove that they were the real heirs. The matter went to the Election Commission. Both have been given a new name and election symbol. Chirag is the claim of being a son, but Pashupati Paras has also been saying that I am the real heir of Ram Vilas Paswan’s political legacy, Chirag is the heir to his father’s property, Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, Nitish Kumar in Patna On October 8, the first death anniversary of Ram Vilas Paswan was celebrated. On this occasion, brother Pashupati Paras organized the program at the state office in Patna, while son Chirag Paswan organized the program at 12 Janpath, the government residence in Delhi. There was such a competition to show power between the two that both had invited big leaders. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad along with his wife Rabri Devi arrived in the program organized in Delhi. Everyone paid tribute to Paswan by garlanding his oil painting. After this, Chirag also tweeted about it. Lalu Prasad, who called Ram Vilas Paswan a meteorologist, demanded Bharat Ratna on his first death anniversary.
Actually, on this pretext, they are trying to bring BJP and JDU out of the screen. At the same time, on the invitation of his brother and Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary reached the program organized in Patna. He also discussed his relationship with Paswan from student life. Earlier, according to the Hindu calendar, on September 12, the first anniversary of Union Minister Paswan was celebrated in Patna. JDU leaders including Nitish Kumar had made a distance from this event, while a large number of BJP leaders attended. The reason for this was the organizer Chirag Paswan. However, despite the break in LJP, Chirag invited uncle Pashupati Paras and he also joined it. Why Ramvilas is necessary? Actually, LJP’s founder and former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan was the only leader of Dalits in Bihar. In 1971, when Indira Gandhi gave the slogan of Garibi Hatao, the politics of wooing Dalit voters had started since then. In the later period, Paswan did politics for Dalits and other castes. In the meantime, the popularity of Bhola Paswan Shastri and Ramsunder Das declined and Ram Vilas Paswan emerged as a hero of Dalits in Bihar. Born in the village of Shahrabani in Khagadia district of Bihar, Ram Vilas Paswan came into politics after leaving the police job. He became an MLA for the first time in 1969 from the Alauli (Reserved) assembly seat of Khagaria on behalf of the Anti-Congress Front, the United Socialist Party, and became an MP for the first time in 1977. In the same year, the people of the country got acquainted with his name. The reason was the victory by record votes. After this, he dominated national politics for the next four decades.
He had to face defeat only in 1984 and 2009. For the first time in 1996, Paswan became a minister at the Center in the Janata Dal government. He is the only politician who has been a Union Minister in the cabinet of six Prime Ministers viz. VP Singh, HD Deve Gowda, Inder Kumar Gujral, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Manmohan Singh and Narendra Modi. In every government, whether it was the Janata Dal government or the Congress-led UPA alliance or the BJP-led NDA, he made his place in all. Paswan held various ministries such as Labour, Mines, Chemicals and Fertilizers, Railways, Communications and Food and Consumer Affairs. Taking a jibe at his skills, Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was once his companion and then became an opponent, called him a meteorologist of politics. In the context of keeping his vote bank together for a long time, political observers say, “It is not that he ever did any major agitation against Dalits. But he raised his voice openly at a time when there is a apprehension of some kind of threat looming over the rights of Dalits. who remained with him till the end. The polarization of the Paswan vote had become his biggest strength. Journalist Anoop Srivastava says, “Who would dare to sideline a politician who has more than six per cent votes! The reason for Ram Vilas Paswan’s long innings was his outright vote bank and his kind behavior towards the public. No one was angry with him, so apart from the Dalits, he also got the support of the upper castes and backwards.” Arun Singh, a resident of Mahanar in Vaishali district, says, “Remember his work as a railway minister. He got the regional headquarters of the railways built in Hajipur. He always believed in getting work done in the interest of the public, especially for the people of his area. on the voters.
Even today the inclination of this section is towards Ram Vilas Paswan’s party. When Nitish Kumar created the Mahadalit class, he did not include the Paswan caste in it. Later in 2018 at the behest of Ram Vilas Paswan, this caste was given the status of Mahadalit. Now when Pashupati Paras is inclined towards Nitish Kumar, then JDU can get the benefit of it. In pictures: The things that make Bihar special, while Tejashwi is also telling Chirag as his own because he knows that even if he gets some part of Paswan’s vote, his road to victory will become a little easier. After the break in the LJP, the RJD was seeing the possibility of a reversal in the politics of the state. Therefore, expressing sympathy, Tejashwi even called Chirag as his brother. Same is the case with BJP. She has confidence of about 14 percent votes of the upper castes and with this she is playing the card of OBC with Hindutva. If Paswan gets his vote, victory can be decided. Experts say that for this reason BJP is playing two-sided. Pashupati Paras was made a Union Minister on one side and on the other hand, BJP also stands with him in every event of Chirag Paswan. Clearly, the party does not want to upset Chirag either. The battle between uncle Pashupati Paras and nephew Chirag Paswan is also about this vote bank. He knows very well that with the help of this Ram Vilas Paswan did politics for 50 years and the sympathy of this vote bank can continue even after his death.
