Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that the three crore families who have got Prime Minister’s houses so far in the country have got an opportunity to become lakhpatis through a single scheme. These poor families have become millionaires. That in itself is a big deal. PM Modi handed over housing through digital medium to 75 thousand beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban in a three-day conference-cum-expo organized on the theme ‘New Urban India’ in Lucknow.
In the same program, he talked about becoming lakhpatis of three crore families in the BJP government. Explaining his point of becoming millionaires of three crore families with one scheme, the PM further said, ‘You people will think that on what basis I am making such a big claim. In fact, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, about three crore houses have been built in the country, you can guess the value of them today… These people are now lakhpatis.’
In this program, PM Modi, while targeting the previous Akhilesh Yadav government of Uttar Pradesh, accused the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and said that he did not want to build houses for the poor. The PM said, ‘I also remember the days when despite all the efforts, Uttar Pradesh was not progressing in the matter of construction of houses. The central government was giving money to build houses for the poor, yet the government in Uttar Pradesh before 2017 did not want to build houses for the poor.
During this program, PM Modi also interacted digitally with three beneficiary women by distributing keys through digital medium to 75 thousand beneficiaries selected for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in all the districts of the state. He said that his government has decided to give the ownership rights of the houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to women because in our society, houses, shops and property are usually in the name of men, so for a healthy society. With a view to balance this, the government has decided to give the ownership of the Prime Minister’s house to the lady of the house.
Referring to the nine lakh families getting the benefit of the housing scheme in Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister said that this time there is a program to light 7.50 lakh diyas on the occasion of Diwali in Ayodhya. This time the beneficiary families should light two diyas each in their homes on Deepawali, due to which 18 lakh lamps will be lit, which will make Lord Rama very happy.
