These employees include Junior Engineer, Sub-Divisional Officer, Executive Engineer and Supervising Engineer. Power workers have warned that if the center does not reverse the decision, work will be suspended indefinitely.

Abodhesh Kumar, district convener of the Joint Disputes Committee of Power Workers, said on Sunday that there would be protests against the privatization of the power sector from Monday morning to evening and the strike would continue if the demands were not met.

He said privatization of power sector in other parts of the country like Odisha, Delhi, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Jalgaon, Ujjain, Gwalior, Bhagalpur, Gaya and Muzaffarpur had failed. He claimed that privatization was against the public because it would make electricity more expensive.

Meanwhile, Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey said 24-hour uninterrupted power supply would be ensured at any cost.
